Buisness Card

In order for people to be aware of the zine presence, we have created a buisness card that contains the online publication deatils. These cards shall be placed within Coco De Mer stores, the inside of the zine and Eleven Gallery gift shop. So just incase they have not brought our zine issue, they can still read about it online.

Wax Seal

One idea that we have come up with for the packaging is too place the zine within a envelope, as if it contains something private for that viewer only, then to seal the envelope with melted wax. This is in order for the reader to break the seal when they are ready, adding mystery and importance.

Eleven Gallery

The zine will mention the Eleven Gallery within the article about Natasha Law. This is due to it holding the Law exhibtions and being a place where we have recently visited and found it contained a warm and friendly atmosphere. Also, the manager has explained how they would like an online version of the article to be sent to them in order for it to be placed upon their website as we have mentioned nothing but positive praises towards the buisness.

laura lees for freya

The Genesis Appeal: a charity thats dedicates all of its time to the prevention of breast cancer.
five designs on 60 t-shirts only
all proceeds are given to them.

all in aid of spreading the word of a better fit with freya's bra fitting campaign.

I came across this in one of our favourite weeklys and just had to share it with you.

www.theholyfit.com

It ties in well with many of the articles we are running in our first issue such as 'do you know your cup size' and 'its time to rate your knickers.'

Harpers Bazaar is a well established fashion magazine publication: 'Sophisticated, elegant and provocative.'

The simplicity of the front cover is something we believe will work wonderfully with our zine. minimal text found with the main focus on the image. Most fashion magazines suffocate their covers with too many words. We want a sense of the unknown and intimate contents so inspiration from their layout solutions has helped determine what we really want to achieve with our zine. afterall the front cover is the most important as it makes the consumer pick it up in the first place.

Project Chore - sexy video

The Damaris lingerie brand is known to be controversial which director; Justin Anderson has captured perfectly pushing boundaries of modern film. Not what I was expecting at all, the music works well with the fast pace of the clip working effectively with the movements of the women.
I love the contradictions used in the film. Women doing not so glamorous everyday jobs around the house yet they are wearing the most beautiful underwear. Every girl enjoys the thrills of being able to walk around in the privacy of their own home, just in their underwear but not usually in their best pieces so it is an interesting approach. It reflects everyday life yet perhaps displays the sex appeal of the modern housewife.
This short film can be found exclusively on vogue.co.uk. Everyone is talking about it.

Watch and enjoy.

Everything girlie

These two images are small moodboards that have been created in order to portray how we vision girlie items; with the use of colour, images, subtle tones and illustration drawings being weaved within it. It is a simple example of how to take an ordinary image and create it to catch the viewers gaze while showing mesmerising snapshots of enviroments that people want to be apart of.

Coco de Mer

When presentaing our ideas to our lectures about our zine and who we feel it is targeted towards as well as what we would like it to portray, they told us of a retailer named Coco de Mer and how they believed our ethos and priorities where extremely similar. So this is what we found out about the company and their thrills of exotic luxuries and the lifestyle that comes with it;

"All our products are made with the consideration of environmental and human rights. We invest in the talents of local artisans...Ultimately, we hope that our products bring you joy, inspiration and a recharge of sexual energy that translates in the infinite enjoyment of one of life's great gifts...We Celebrate the beauty from which we all come! Savour life and drink it to the full."

To us, we feel that this is perfect. Not only are they expressing sexual mannerisms, but also taking into account other aspects of life that also revolve around this, for expample human rights, fair trade, the enjoyment of life and talents of local artisans. Brilliant!!

Harriette Tebutt (The Duchess)

This is Harriette Tebutt, an illustrator who attends Camberwell College and is our collaborator for this zine. Her images are the inspiration for our style as they portray every essence of a feminine and delicate taste; an ethos to which we want our zine to evolve around and her images will be featured throughout the issue.

Every issue of the zine will collaborate with an up and coming, yet to be discovered, creative talent. Drawers will take any existing nicknames they have or create one, and the nickname will be the title of that issue. The first month’s issue will be called ‘The Duchess’ - After illustrator Harriette Tebbutt. I came across her blog by chance, by clicking next on blogspot. With less than 10 followers but hundreds of little illustrations posted, Harriette is a creative talent that Drawers zine would be proud to help showcase.
Her drawings have a distinct style, and after meeting her for a coffee it was clear that her prim and proper nature was as unusual as her drawing style. She is a second year at Camberwell College of Arts, she draws constantly and as she waited for me to arrive she had already doodled half the people in the coffee shop. When we agreed to meet it was to get an interview for an article on her illustrations and to have a look through some of her work. When looking through the pages of her portfolio I found photographs of two sets of underwear which she had decorated. They were perfect and she was instantly matched for a collaboration with drawers.
The first zine will be fully illustrated by her. There will be a photo shoot of the doodle undies and the interview I carried out will be included too.

The Duchess

This is the ultimate feminine style that first gave us inspiration for our zine. We are still in the process of brainstorming whether our first issue should be called 'Issue one: The Duchess' This is due to us wanting our zine to be seen in a niche market where it is to attract a feminist audience in an elitest society. However, we are changing are minds again and this time using our collaboration illustrator Harriette as 'The Duchess.' This is purely because of her talents, age and we feel she can relate to our target consumer; a student with class who appreciates and adores lingerie.

Freya

Freya is an underwear label that I personally adore, not only do they cater for big breasted ladies (about time) but I feel their advertisements are so playful and fun, it just brings out the innocent and harmless side of lingerie - while every other brand tries too hard to make it look sexy and an image that men would adore!! People are forgetting that underwear should make the woman feel amazing first and if the man likes it - good, but if not - who cares?! (to be honest, its going to be thrown on the bedroom floor within two seconds anyway!!)

Personal matters...

Doesn't everyone? This image is just to show explicit phrases and private matters distributed in a different way. Personally I find it very comical (especially the face of the blonde haired woman!!)

Every girl should have one of these...

One book that we feel every girl should read (and also prepare herself for full on filth) is 'girl with a one track mind.' It started from a blogger who shared her experiences online and then turned it into an award winning novel. Your not wrong in thinking that the books main ethos is about a woman and her sexual adventures with many different men, after all an erotic story tickles the majority of peoples fancy, no? My advice, dont knock it till you've tried it..

The aesthetics of our zine

We have started to think about the look of our zine, what we want to say from the visuals and how we are going to do it. We have a clear decision which is to create a creative and delicate artisitc approach, these images that have been found reflect this some what.

This image is a perfect example of the type of image that we would want to place on the front cover of our zine. The hand drawn artistic approach is something that we want to become part of our brand handwriting. we dont want the reade rto get distracted by the glossy and busy front cover, thats not what a zine is not about. The idea is to have the master head and a simple hand drawn image of a pair of knicjers or a underwear set. nothing else but those two elements.

Inspirational images

Dont you just love it when inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere......here are a few that caught my eye...

Free people

We absolutely love their brand handwriting. The collage effect created with soft tones and a very hand made approach.

Kinky...

I know that this image may be a little too sexual for some, but we just absolutely adore it! It's just very delicately shown in a subtle manner. Definately an inspiration starter for our magazine.

who shares our love for beautiful lingerie

Lingerie is a girly essential and an ultimate luxury. Blogs that we have found, reflect this with feminine and pretty approaches.

Boudiche: It is a exquisite designer lingerie brand with a couple of boutiques found in Glasgow and Edinburgh. They run a blog that keeps people informed as to what is happening in the business.

Frou Frou fashionista: Again, this is another luxury lingerie blog. This blog is elegant and the ultimate feminine showing its readers delicate under garments from around the world.

The lingerie post: a blog that is updated daily to give information on brands and designers and their new collections and emerging trends that come on to the scene.

Petite Croquette: Gives you up to date information on everything lingerie; websites to visit, the latest collections and where to buy and get the best bargains. This is definatly our favourite blog that we have found, so delicate and girly.

Natasha Law

Natasha Law is an artist trained at Camberwell College and is renowned for using household paints to create predominantly erotic images. She has also illustrated books including Camilla Morton's How to Walk in High Heels: the Girl's Guide to Everything.

We have decided to include her within our zine as we wanted to explore various elements of underwear and how they are used in everyday life, so this time we are focusing on the arts.

The Ballet Dancer..

Within the zine we have decided to talk about the aspects of underwear in everyday life, and one aspect that we all agreed should be included is underwear in the form on dance. So we have conducted an interview with a female principle dancer from the London Royal Ballet company, to discuss views on the costumes and what life is like as a dancer, also not forgetting details on the flattering underwear that must be worn during perfomances.

What is out there

The market we want to launch our zine into is very limited in terms of similar content. It is mainly blogs that interest and excite us.

However, these are publications that are considered most prominant such as:

The Lingerie Buyer; the industry's leading publication. It is the first place you would look for inspiration and up to date information.

Underlines is produced five times a year, roughly 6,000 copies per issue; a UK based publication which presents reports and forecasts on swimwear for the industry professionals.

Lingerie Styling; online and print version which is free in selected stores. It provides tips about your lingerie wardrobe from professionals.

Nude Amibition ; a rauncy magazine aimed at the older female market with a seductive and erotic nature.
